How to get Butterfly Fish

🔑 Prerequisite: None: available from your very first minutes in the game.

Find a Butterfly Fish egg in the coral zone nests, or steal one from another player's plot.
Carry it back and drop it on your own plot to start the short hatch timer.
Keep playing (work out at the barbell) while it hatches, since commons hatch fast.
First discovery also claims an index reward, so grab it early even if you swap it later.

Other players can slap you mid-carry, and a hit can knock you off ledges near the coral platforms.
Your equipped pets follow slowly; don't wait for them while running an egg home.

💡 Volc discovered his by stealing mid-run (1:59 in his video). Stealing is faster than waiting for your own nest restock if a neighbor is careless.
